Rambo Knives
“Rambo” knives are one of those common purchases people pick up on the cheap. Maybe they saw some positive reviews on Amazon and thought to themselves, “it’s only $10, so even if it’s not great and doesn’t last, no biggie.” But those knives are dangerous and shouldn’t even be used as a “beater” or starter knife.
Mostly Rambo Knives are bowie knives with blade length ranging from 8.5 inches to 12 inches and giving it most dangerous bowie or dagger type look and feel If you are interested in reading more about Bowie Knife, then do Read my Review on Frost Cutlery Quicksilver Bowie Knife

My Experience on Rambo Knives (similar or replicas)
Like many preppers of a certain age, I grew up running around the woods with one of these knives. I actually still have one of the ones I carried on Boy Scout trips in my office. We’re all lucky we didn’t hurt ourselves, because the potential was definitely there.
Problem with RAMBO Knives
The problem with these knives, like the $8 Harbor Freight special pictured above, is that they’ll fail on you catastrophically at the worst possible moment, quite possibly injuring you or a bystander in the process.

Frost Cutlery manufacturers Rambo Knives
Frost Cutlery manufactures and sells RAMBO Knives which are also called Bowie Knives or survival knives at times. You will find so many bowie knives, tactical knives and as said earlier Rambo Knives under this brand’s Umbrella. They are not only affordable but quality is also good especially the ones which are being manufactured in Pakistan.
The danger comes from the construction method. With a few notable and very expensive exceptions, the hollow-handled knives all share a fatal flaw: the blade is attached to the handle via an internal screw, so the bond between the blade and handle is very weak.

It doesn’t take much stress — especially side-to-side stress — to snap that screw and send the bare blade flying while the handle is still in your grip. This makes chopping and prying with such a knife exceptionally dangerous.
The majority of the unsafe hollow-handled knives in this category are in the $10 to $20 range, and are available at “big box” retailers and most online outlets. As a general rule, I wouldn’t trust any hollow-handled knife that isn’t forged from a single piece of steel, no matter who sells it and for how much, but more on that, below.
Thus, all knives we own at one point or another, we do test them in the field, I have also tested Frost Cutlery Quicksilver Bowie Knife, and you can read detail account of my testing

It’s Quality to do it right
Despite all I’ve said above, it is possible to find quality knife which is not very expensive more very cheap so the knife manufacturers compromise on quality of the product.
When we talk about cheap prices and quality product two brands you should always remember. Firstly, Frost Cutlery knives & then We Knife Co aka We Knives.
Frost Cutlery Chipaway Big Grizz Bowie
In this post I’ll be discussing a Rambo Style Knife from Frost Cutlery which is Frost Cutlery Chip Away Big Grizz Bowie (10.75″).

As you can see from the picture it comes with a leather sheath for Just USD 18-19 dollars. Its Chip away. 16.5″ overall in size. The Blade is 10.75″ having satin finish made from stainless clip point material. Handle is made from Black Packwood. Brass guard gives it a nice look. Brown leather belt sheath as said earlier and is boxed packed once you buy it.
But Frost Cutlery Chip Away Big Grizz Bowie (10.75″) is missing something?
Yes, it gives quite dangerous look but is missing on something you may have missed?
It’s not related to materials or handle designs the famous RAMBO DAGGAR SERATIONS at the top of blade are missing.
I found another Knife with serrations on it. It is
Frost Cutlery Fixed Blade (10.5″)

As you can see from following picture it also provides quite an impression and there is just 1-2 $ differences in their prices as both of them are for sale. (We will get to it read you read along).
Now let’s talk about Silent features or Key features of Frost Cutlery Fixed Blade (10.5″).
Features of Frost Cutlery Fixed Blade Knife
It’s also Chip away. With length of 16.25″ overall. The Blade size of Frost Cutlery fixed blade is 10.5″ a perfect satin finish to stainless clip point material of the blade. Frost wood handle looks nice (but I personally didn’t like. Stainless guard looks okie. Yes, a Lanyard hole to hand it with you. It’s a Full giving it better strong strength for bush crafting or chopping of little chunks of wood for camp starter fire. Last, it comes with Black nylon belt sheath. Packet in a Boxed.
Frost Cutlery Chip Away Big Grizz Bowie (10.75″)
Vs
Frost Cutlery Fixed Blade (10.5″).
- It will keep short, therefore just highlighting few things which I liked and disliked about both.
- they both are good value for money & quality at same time.
- Grizz bowie is missing the serrations whereas handle of Fixed blade is too Chummy, Polkas, very colorful look doesn’t give the classy look it should give.
- Frost Cutlery Fixed Blade has stainless steel handle guard and is full tang knife made by stainless, yet Frost Cutlery Grizz Bowie got brass handle guard giving it a little more premium look and feel.
